About me

Hi! My name is Deb and I'm the owner of Johnnys Red Rock Designs.

A little about how I got to here.  I grew up a third generation picture framer who's grandparents and mother were all artists, so you can say I was born into this creative life.  I spent a childhood surrounded by artists and their amazing creations, learning at an early age that creating something with your eye and hands is a truly amazing experience.

I started in photography at my elementary school in the 5th grade when my teacher Mr. Smith taught a photography class. Now these were the days of  manual cameras, black and white 35 mm film (my first camera was a pentax k1000) we were taught the basics of photography and how to develop film, make enlargements and were lucky enough to have a dark room in an old closet at the school.  This started a life long love of capturing what i saw.

Right after graduation my grandmother had a stroke and this in turn led me to a different work path some 10 years later and I decided to go back to school and got my associates degree in Occupational Therapy.  I've worked in this field for almost 30 years now, but missed the hands on creativity so for the last several have also done woodworking, laser engraving and of course on occasion photography tho, now with a digital camera and no more developing and enlarging in a dark room lol.

As we all know the last few years have been very hard on a lot of people and being a healthcare worker who was farther from family than I wanted to be I did some hard thinking and made some major life changes that had me back down from healthcare some and devote myself a little more seriously to the art side and am doing lots of different media from sublimation, laser engraving, some framing of course, fluid art with resin, pretty much whatever catches my attention for the time being!  Everything I sell has been touched by my hands, I love the challenge of creating something unique and the 'how will i do this?"  when attempting to bring an idea to fruition!

I love the juxtaposition i can achieve with all the mixed media and am fortunate enough to be able to show my work in a local gallery and do monthly event shows several months out of the year.

If you ever have questions or If I can assist in anyway please email me or reach out and I'll do my best to answer.
